Time to slow down

This Easter Weekend I have decided to have a break from my normal routine and allow myself to slow down.

So rather than writing my usual post, I’m going to share with you a passage of a little gem of a book I came across lately.

Haemin Sunim is a charmy and bright Zen Monk who has gifted the world with the enchanting “The things you can see only when you slow down”.

After reading it I came to realise that no matter how much I like to think I’m cool with most things in life, truth is I could be way cooler.

I could be slower to start with.

I could be more present.

I could be more and more, and it’s only when allow life to happen as she pleases that I feel more centred, focused and available to the world around me.

“When we look at the outside world, we are looking at only a small part that interests us. The world we see is not the entire universe but a limited one the mind cares about.

However, to our minds, that small world is the entire universe. Our reality is not the infinitely stretching cosmos but the small part we choose to focus on. Reality exists because of our mind exists. Without the mind, there would be no universe.

The more I reflected on this, the more her insight made sense to me. The world comes to exist because we are aware of it….

Put differently, our mind’s awareness can be said to bring the world into being.

What our mind focuses on becomes our world”

My wish to all of you is to choose carefully what you focus on at a time when it’s way too easy to just give in to the uglier and more unfair side of our reality.

May you be happy, healthy, peaceful and always protected from harm.
